From the Old Midleton distillery, distilled in 1964 and bottled in 1994, this 30 Year-Old is a limited edition pot still whiskey presented in an oak presentation box.

Named Dungourney, after the river that had fed the old distillery. It was initially rumoured to be a single cask but it would appear the cask is bottomless! However, this doesn't take away from it being an exceptional whiskey and a very rare and cheapish opportunity to try a dram from the Old Midleton distillery. If the marketing department had called it Midleton 1964 instead of Dungourney 1964 you would have to multiply the price by ten, be glad they didn't!!

'Nose: Leather and ferns in the rain, though still very light and attractive. Taste: Oily on the tongue and robust in flavour. This pot still whiskey is both viscous and sweet, but balancing that are some cool notes and a hint of creme brulee. Finish: A gentle giant. Both honey sweet and biscuity, with the unmalted barley making itself felt towards the end. Long and very pleasant. Comments: Remarkably fresh and youthful for an Irish that has spent so long in the wood. This was clearly an exceptional cask....Outstanding.' Peter Mulryan The Whiskeys of Ireland.
