Do not even think about drinking this straight, this poteen should always be mixed to reduce the level of alcohol. Has some similarity to an Eau de Vie, though a softer nose and smoother finish. Up until 1997 poteen was illegal in Ireland but now it is becoming available when distilled under permit.
