Jameson 12 Year-Old Special Reserve Irish WhiskeyJameson 12 year old Special Reserve is the favourite whiskey of Dr Barry Walsh, the master blender at Midleton Distillery for many years!
At least 30% of the casks used are oloroso sherry, and at least 75% of the blend is made up of pot still whiskey. The youngest whiskeys are 12 years old but it contains whiskeys going back 20 years. 'Very sweet and gentle. This is beautifully balanced, nothing is overstated. There are lots of cream pies and rich oloroso notes, but also some very old pot still, which eventually dominates. The sherry melts into lip smacking milk chocolate. Jameson 12 year old is simply a beautiful whiskey.' Peter Mulryan, The Whiskies of Ireland. When the brand was first launched it was known as Jameson 1780, with the 1780 referring to when John Jameson took over the distillery.
