2012 USA Ultimate Spirits Challenge, 92 points ‘Excellent, Highly Recommended’. At the 2003 International Wine & Spirit Competition, Ireland's only spirit GOLD MEDAL winner. A "farmer's" strength poteen, triple-distilled for a strong yet super-smooth flavour and made from pure Irish spirit. It was the first poteen to be legally available for sale in Ireland on the domestic market.

May be drunk straight, with mixers or as a contemporary slightly sweet cocktail base, having a hint of melon and vanilla. Knockeen Hills is the only triple-distilled range of Irish Poteens produced.

Colour/Nose: Clear. Nose of sugared almond and vanilla and, with water, a tangerine apple lift.

Palate: Sweet as a nut. Lemon/cake flavours with menthol tingle. Dry on finish; touch of butter.

Conclusion: Miles away from the past illegal hooch, this is sophisticated spirit. Careful though.
