El Tesoro Tequila is handcrafted at La Altena Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. After 50 years of handcrafting tequila, the founding family of the El Tesoro found themselves in the middle of the Mexican Revolution. The original distillery was destroyed. It was in 1937 that Don Felipe Camarena rebuilt the distillery in La Altena, 20 miles away from the original site.

The current Master Distiller of El Tesoro is Carlos Camarena. He is the third generation of Master Distillers of El Tesoro de Don Felipe Tequila and the grandson of Don Felipe. He helps to preserve the 200 years of tradition, history, and craftsmanship of El Tesoro tequila.
