Penin Guide 92 Points
Robert Parker 91 Points. ‘The nose shows a young, slow-ageing wine with plenty of flower aromas, terse fruit and spicy notes, with well-integrated oak echoes. In bottle since 2011, the palate is really silky, polished, round and tasty with fully resolved tannins and ready to go. A great, aged Bierzo from one of the best recent vintages that was aged for us by the winery and sold at a very reasonable price. 20,000 bottles produced.’
Stephen Tanzer 91 Points. ‘Brilliant ruby. Aromas and flavours of red and dark berries, candied liquorice and vanilla, with a zesty mineral nuance adding vivacity. Sappy and precise on the palate, with an undercurrent of juicy acidity adding lift and cut to a long, spice-tinged finish. Quite tasty now but this wine is in no danger of decline thanks to its balance and firm core of acidity.’
