"When I first came to Dublin, I thought the Palace was the most wonderful temple of art." Monaghan poet Patrick Kavanagh.
The Palace Bar is an historic old Victorian pub on the corner of Fleet Street and Westmoreland Street first established in 1823. It's famous for its association with many of the great poets, writers and journalists or Ireland over the years, like Patrick Kavanagh and Flann O'Brien. At the height of Irish whiskey's popularity, pubs like this would have their own brands, bottled in-house. With a nod to that tradition, they've started bottling their own whiskey again, and very good it is too. Produced in very small quantities, you're only likely to find it in Dublin.
