Mosstowie 12 Year Old Gordon and MacPhail 1980s

75 cl

Mosstowie was a short lived single malt that was only produced from 1964 to 1981 at the Miltonduff Distillery. Mosstowie is unusual because it was made in 'Lomond' stills; a type of still that has a a reftifying column in place of the traditional swan neck. The idea of the Lomond still was to bring some flexibility and more efficiency into the distillation process. In actual fact the stills were awkward to clean and the spirit made was not a huge hit with blenders (by far the main market for malt in those days).
