It was not until Taiwan joined the World Trade Organisation in 2002 that Mr. Tien-Tsai Lee could make his dream of producing a Taiwanese whisky come true. Together with expertise from master blender Ian Chang and specialist Dr. James Swan, the Kavalan Distillery was born. Since the first new make spirit was distilled at the distillery in Yuanshan in 2006, things have gone from strength to strength. The warm sub-tropical climate means that the whisky matures much more quickly, and the company has rapidly built up a fine collection of outstanding releases over the passed ten years! We highly rate this collection and can’t wait to see what’s next for this exciting new company and Taiwan whisky in general!
