Robert Parker 92 Points | 'The 2011 Finca Valdepoleo is the first vintage and the first single vineyard wine they have released, but more will come. Owner Carlos San Pedro believes this is the vineyard with most potential: it was planted in 1973 with Tempranilo, which is fermented in small stainless steel vats and aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. The nose is very ripe, with notes of black cherries, dark plums and black spices. The medium-bodied palate comes through very spicy, with a strike of clean acidity that lifts the wine up. A superb, modern Rioja.' |
