Riesling is seen as one of the truly great grape varieties of the wine world and is best known in Germany and Alsace. It is characterised by high acidity and floral, fragrant aromas. Riesling wines can vary from bone dry to very sweet depending on the ripeness of the grapes and wine making techniques. It is described as being highly 'Terroir-Expressive' meaning that it is clearly influenced by the terrain and climate in which it is grown. Good examples have great ageing potential.
