Springbank

Springbank is a very traditional distillery that carries out every process from malting to bottling on the same site. It is one of the last surviving distilleries in Campbeltown, a town that was once a hive of distilling. Steamships would stop off at the town on their way to America and pick up whisky for New York and other ports. Prohibition, poor quality whisky and other factors led to a decline, and at various times Springbank was the only survivor left (there are now three working Campbeltown distilleries). Thankfully Springbank has survived which must have been down to the quality of its whisky which has always been highly rated. The distillery makes two styles of malt; Springbank which is lightly peated and Longmorn which is heavily peated. In addition the Mitchell family also own the recently reborn Glengyle Distillery. Springbank has four stills and is capable of producing 2,000,000 litres per year.
