Equipo Navazos La Bota de Pedro Ximenez Jerez no 36

50 cl

Jerez is in the South West of Spain where they produce some of the world's finest wines! These days, sherry is an under-rated and often misunderstood wine but offers exceptional quality and value. Castilla consists of about 30 casks that boast a clear jerezano style, markedly oxidative, although its alcohol content is the minimum legally accepted. Such moderate percentage of alcohol helps preserve the candied fruit notes coming from the raisins, despite the very old age of this wine, which is certainly more than 30 years of age.

Penin Guide 96 Points
Neil Martin (Wine Advocate) 95 Points The Lot 36 La Bota de Pedro Ximenez comes from the old Solera of sweet PX from Bodegas Fernanso de Castilla that probably averages around 30-years in age and has pronounced oxidation and low alcohol. The selection of this bottling demonstrated the most depth and definition. Dark brown in colour, this oozes out of the bottle. It has wonderful definition on the nose with marmalade, molasses and just a very faint adhesive scent. The palate is untuous on the entry but but extraordinarily well-balanced as the acidity slides through the thickly layered treacle infused with molasses, cloves and a pinch of white pepper. Long and sensual, this is an intense PX that threatens to overwhelm the senses and yet it is so perfectly balanced an harmonious that you just fall into its arms. This PX can be summed up in three letters. WOW.'
