Lowlands
There are sadly only a few distilleries left in the Lowlands, a region that once made a lot of whisky, sometimes on a very large scale. Recently Bladnoch has closed down with it's future very much in doubt, but thankfully there are a few new distillleries on the way. Annan Distillery is currently under reconstruction whilst Ailsa Bay and Daftmill have been making whisky for a few years. These join Auchentoshan and Glenkinchie as flag flyers for the region. Most Lowland malts are delicate, grassy and fruity in style.
