Glenturret

Along with a few others, Glenturret claims to be one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and claims a heritage going back to 1775. Not exaclty true, there was a distillery nearby built at that date but Glenturret as it is today was not actually built until 1959. It is one of the major component of the Famous Grouse blend and its two stills make a max of just 340,000L per year. The distillery has the distinction of once being the home of Towser, a cat and prolific mouse control expert. After being observed for several days by officials from the Guinness Book of Records it was estimated that she was responsible for dispatching 28,899 rodents from the site during her lifetime.
