Royal Lochnagar
Built in 1845, although two previous distilleries on the same site are known to have burned down in suspicious circumstances! The distillery gained its 'Royal' status when Queen Victoria visited 1848 and was impressed. Apparently she liked to mix fine Bordeaux with single malt Scotch, ruining two great drinks in one go! Royal Lochnagar is Diageo's smallest distillery and is most likely the sixth or seventh smallest in Scotland. There are two pot stills and it makes around 450,000 litres per year.
