Rosebank

Rosebank may have been founded as early as 1773 although it did not become legal officially until 1840. It enjoyed a relatively prosperous period for most of its life before being closed in 1993 by the company that went on to form Diageo. Rosebank is sorely missed and numerous opportunities to re-open it were missed. The premises were sold to British Waterways (it is on canal bank) in 2002 and the buildings are set to be turned in appartments. In 2008 a new company announced it would open a new 'Rosebank' using the original stills, however these were stolen and never recovered.
