Springbank 12 Year Old Green
Named 'Green' because the barley used for this bottling is farmed organically. The distillery does not have the relevant certification to officially label it as organic, hence the 'Green' label. Springbank also once released a whisky that by fluke was naturally slightly green in colour. This one is very pale but not green and it has been entirely matured in ex-Bourbon casks. Apparently this tastes slightly smokier than most Springbanks, perhaps they gave the organic barley an extra whiff of peat smoke during the malting. It certainly would have been malted seperately from their regular malt.
