Charles Heidsieck

This producer is located in the Reims region of champagne. Charles was a 19th century champagne merchant, bestowed with the credit of bringing champagne to the American market. During the American Civil War Heidsieck was imprisoned under suspicion of being a spy for the French government and the Confederacy, resulting in conflict between France and the United States at this time. He later inerited land in thelittle known region of Denver, Colorado. This region flourished into one of the largest and most prosperous cities of the American west. Upon this success, Heisieck was able to relaunch his Champagne house and grow it to be one of Champagne's premier houses.
