Making Techniques After alcoholic fermentation and a maceration of three weeks, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in new barrels made of oak from Allier Pennsylvania. The wine remains in these barrels for about 10 months with a weekly movement of its fine sediment. Without any clarification treatment, stablisation or filtering the wine is usually bottled in November to December in the year after the harvest. The final annual crop will typically total approximately 15,000 bottles.

2009 Robert Parker 90 Points 'The 2009 Traslanzas comes from a single vineyard planted in 1945 that yields just 1Kg per vine. It is aged in new French and American oak for 18monthswith weekly lees stirring. It offers a very pure, concentrated bouquet of macerated dark cherries, iodine and pine that is well defined but needs another couple of years to open. The palate is medium bodied with supple ripe tannins. Although it is rather oaky at the moment, it is in sync with the fruit and should be afforded another couple of years to be subsumed. It is well-balanced, quite suave and intense for a Cigales red, one of its few "vin de garde" wines'
