Germany remains a 'difficult' country within the wine trade. Her wines are highly rated, and scored by professionals yet consumers are reluctant to experiment with them. There are many reasons for this. Blue Nun and Liebfraumilch has a lot to answer for and many people still think that all German wines are on the sweet side. Add to that some downright bewildering labelling terms and it's east to see why there is a lot of doubt. There are some truly great wines made in Germany, and if you are prepared to do a little research then you will be richly rewarded. Riesling is the jewel in Germany's crown with some world class wines coming from the Mosel, Reingau and Pfalz regions in particular.
