Autumn of 2005 was very memorable in Tokaj. After a cool and damp Summer, an Indian Summer prevailed lasting up until the beginning of November, charachterised by warm and dry days. This resulted in very good quality Tokaji. Plenty of acid, crisp, clear aszú flavours. Great length and balance.  It is somewhat reminiscent of the 1999 vintage, a truly classic year for Tokaj.

Nose Resinous and concentrated on the nose with aromas of fresh oranges, maramalade, orange blossom and lemon.
Palate Sweet and medium to full bodied with very high acidity which keeps the intense sweetness balanced. Concentrated, sweet fruit flavours of lemon, orange, and little spice, then some floral notes and honey.
Colour Pale gold in colour.

Making Techniques The grapes for base must were harvested very late on 23rd and 24th November. The botrytised and shrivelled grapes (aszú berries) were picked one by one between the 10th of October and 4th of November (mostly from the second and third selections). The aszú grapes were macerated in fermenting Furmint must for 3 days. After fermentation finished the wine was matured in oak for 2 and a half years. Bottled on the 18th July 2008. Total number of bottles: 5682.
Closure Cork
Cellaring/Ageing Potential Ideally enjoyed cool (11- 13°C). After opening, it retains its freshness for at least a week in the fridge. Ready to drink but you can also age it for 30 years or more.

Serving Suggestion Far more than a simple dessert wine. Enjoyable on its own of course.

Robert Parker 94 Points "The 2005 Tokaji Aszu Kapi Vineyard 6-Puttonyos is a pure Furmint picked on November 23rd and 24th from the parcel lying close to the Disznókő winery, and this was only the second time it has appearedafter its 1999 debut. The aszu berries were added to the fermenting must and it spent 30 months in oak. It has a very floral bouquet with apricot, jam, dried honey, a slight adhesive, note and a touch of dried pineapple. The palte is medium-bodiedwith a viscous opening. It has great vivacity and minerality, with piercing acidity cutting through the 165 grams per litre residual sugar on the effervescent finish. This is very youthful and will need a few moreyears in bottle. Drink 2016-2045+"
