Slovenia

Wine making in Slovenia predates Roman times and can be traced back to at least the 4th or 5th century BC. Around 75% of production is white wines and this is where most of the quality lies. Furmint (or Sipon as it is locally known) is one of Slovenia's specialities along with other grapes such as Riesling (aka Renski Rizling), Pinot Gris, Sauvignon and Gewurztraminer.
