Valle Reale

This estate is situated in the Canestro Valley close to Majella National Park, an area of outstanding beauty. This is a wild paradise, with deep gorges carved by glaciers, crystal pure springs and diverse wildlife. Its so remote it would not be uncommon to spot bears or wolves in and around the vineyards! The proximity to the Gran Sasso Mountain range, coupled with the altitude of the estate itself creates wild fluctuations in temperature between day and night. The hot summer days and cool summer nights often result in temperature drops of 15ºC in just a few hours, which allow the grapes to mature slowly and gracefully. Cool winds ensure good ventilation, ideal for the development of fine aromas. Combined with this very important microclimate, the special soil types contribute to the refinement and the exotic aromatics of the wines produced here. At Valle Reale, the soils are rocky and light, rich in limestone and chalk. This allows deep penetration of the roots which gives mineral and earth character to the wines.
