Bernard Reverdy
Many generations of the Reverdy family have lived in Verdigny, a village with a strong winemaking tradition in Sancerre. A long line of wine growers proceded the creation of the estate by Bernard Reverdy. They cultivate 9 Hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 3 of Pinot Noir on “Caillottes” (dry stony chalk), “white earth” (chalky clay) and some flint soils. The blend of these terroirs gives the wine their typical characteristics and consistency. The family are keen to prevent soil erosion and feel it is essential to manage the balance of each vine with its environment, therefore pruning and de-budding operations are considered high priority. The winery pays close attention to the harvest in order to conserve the aromas of each grape variety. Temperature control is used during vinification and ageing to ensure that wines are fresh and fruity.
