Prieure Saint Jean de Bebian

Prieure Saint Jean de Bebian is one of the oldest estates in the Laguedoc and is classified classified as 'Grand Cru', the top of the new three-level ranking of Laguedoc AOC wines. Bebians fame began in the 1970's when the state underwent a radical overhaul. The old Mediterranean stock (Cinsault, Carignan) were jealously conserved and were joined by the 'noble' varieties of Syrah, Grenache, Mouevdre and the other traditional Chateauneuf-du-Pape varieties of Roussane, Marsanne, Clairette, Counoise, Bourboulenc and Grenache Gris. Since 2004, Bebian has enjoyed the winemaking talents of Karen Turner. The whites are good but the reds in particular are outstanding!
