Clynelish
An interesting distillery that took over the name 'Clynelish' from the older distillery (now named Brora) when it was built in 1968. The stills at 'old' Clynelish were carefully copied for the new distillery and the aim was for it to maintain the same style whilst being more efficient and having a larger capacity. Clynelish is often described as a coastal malt. It has a touch of smoke but is lighter and more delicate than the peat monsters of Islay. It is owned by Diageo and has six pot stills.
