Jameson is a blended Irish whiskey produced by Irish Distillers at Midleton Distillery, County Cork, Ireland. It was originally distilled at Bow Street Distillery in Dublin, founded by John Jameson in 1780, before production moved to Midleton in 1975. It is the world's best selling Irish whiskey and one of the top ten best selling spirits globally. The standard expression combines pot still and grain whiskeys triple distilled and aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks.
Jameson Irish Whiskey is produced at the Midleton Distillery in Midleton, County Cork, by Irish Distillers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. Production moved from the original Bow Street Distillery in Dublin to the purpose built Midleton facility in 1975. The old Bow Street Distillery in the Smithfield area of Dublin has since been converted into the Jameson Distillery Bow Street visitor experience. All current Jameson production, including the premium Midleton Very Rare range, takes place in County Cork.
