FAQs
Non vintage Moët and Chandon Impérial has an optimal drinking window of three to five years from purchase. The autolytic biscuit and brioche character develops initially but fades over extended cellaring for a wine not designed for long term ageing. Vintage expressions can develop productively for ten to twenty years. Once opened, a Champagne stopper and refrigeration will maintain reasonable quality for two to three days. Champagne will not become unsafe to drink past its optimal window but the effervescence and freshness will diminish.
An opened bottle of Moët and Chandon, stored with a Champagne stopper in a refrigerator, will remain in acceptable condition for two to three days, maintaining some effervescence for the first 24 hours. A sealed non vintage bottle should be consumed within three to five years of purchase for optimal drinking quality. Vintage expressions will last longer. Champagne is not designed for indefinite ageing: the dosage and autolysis character are calibrated for a specific drinking window.
An unopened bottle of Moët Chandon Non Vintage stored in optimal cellar conditions at 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, away from light and vibration, will remain in good condition for three to five years from the date of purchase. Vintage Moët, particularly Moët and Chandon Grand Vintage and Dom Pérignon, can develop productively for ten to thirty years under ideal conditions. Non vintage Champagne is not designed or intended as a long term investment wine.
Moët and Chandon Brut Impérial Non Vintage typically retails from €42 to €55 for a standard 75cl bottle. The Rosé Impérial is priced similarly. Grand Vintage expressions sit between €60 and €90 depending on the year. Dom Pérignon, Moët and Chandon's prestige cuvée produced as a separate brand, retails from €180 to €250 for current releases, with older vintages and special editions commanding significantly higher prices at auction.
