Old Pulteney

Often simply called Pulteney, this distillery was founded in 1826 in the former herring fishing port of Wick. Interestingly the fishing industry got out of hand and at one point prohibition was introduced due to rowdiness and drunkeness. The distillery survived that experience and has done well since thanks to a number of blends using Pulteney for their malt content. There are just two pot stills and production is a maximum of 3,000,000 litres per year.
