Aberlour
Aberlour is a classic Speyside distillery and was founded in either 1826 or 1879 depending on who you choose to listen to! Nestled in the village of the same name it has four large stills (2xwash and 2xspirit) and is owned by Pernod Ricard (who also own Irish Distillers). Water is sourced from several springs on nearby Ben Rinnes. Although most Aberlour malt is matured in ex-bourbon casks it's best successes recently have been with sherry finished whiskies. Aberlour A'Bunadh is a modern classic which is finished in Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at cask strength.
