A FIRST FOR CELTIC WHISKEY SHOP

 

We are delighted to announce our involvement in the latest release from the Irish Distillers' Method and Madness range, a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey finished in Acacia Wood. Hand-selected by ourteam of whiskey experts at the Celtic Whiskey Shop, this is the first shop exclusive of the Method & Madness range, with other previous exclusives including Powers, Redbreast & Midleton.  The Single Pot Still has been finished in French barrels crafted fromm Acacia wood, a wood type

acknowledged for its characteristically tight grain. Prior to this, the spirit was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, before spending a period of one to four years in Acacia wood casks. The end result is a deliciously smooth finish with charred wood and seductive nutty and chocolate aromas. The colour is every bit as rich as the flavour, a dark mahogany hue. Bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered with an RRP of €92.

 

This also coincides with the release of the Method & Madness Single Pot Still Wild Cherry Wood — a brave and exciting new approach to whiskey maturation, which marks the first time that a Single Pot Still whiskey has been finished in nine Wild Cherry wood casks. A bold and fresh whiskey with plenty of complexity and spice. Bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered with an RRP of €92 and available in six markets including Ireland, the UK and global travel retail. 

 

The Method & Madness brand was launched in 2017 to push the boundaries of Irish whiskey andreinforce Irish Distillers promise to the continued development and experimentation at the Midleton Distillery. Drawing inspiration from a famous Shakespearan quote, the Method & Madness series aspires to harness the innovation of Midleton's whiskey masters through introducing new talent from it's apprentices. Since 2017, a total of six whiskeys and one gin has been created in their Micro Distillery as well as the two new additions to the range listed above.

 

To celebrate these new releases, Celtic Whiskey Shop hosted an exclusive press launch in store last night, at which those present were given the opportunity to try both new whiskeys. The evening commenced with a welcome from our Managing Director of the Celtic Whiskey Shop, Alistair Alpine whom has over thirty years experience in the drinks industry. Followed by discussion on how the whiskeys came about and an in-depth tasting on both whiskeys, with Kevin O'Gorman, Master of Maturation and Finbarr Curran, member of the Maturation Research Team at Midleton Distillery. 

 

After a successful evening, the feedback from the launch was extremely positive both expressions. However, if any of our readers are in any way sceptical, Celtic Whiskey Shop will be hosting an in-store tasting today (Wednesday 4th September) from 4-6pm with the help of Gerard Garland which is open to all consumers. Both drinks will be available to sample and to purchase here for the first time (in-store and online) and the Method & Madness Single Pot Still Acacia Wood will be sold exclusively in Celtic Whiskey Shop.
