With it being the First of December, Christmas is well and truly on its way (and we at the Celtic Whiskey Shop are delighted about it!). The lights are up, our calendars are full of invites, and the Christmas cheer is seeping in. So this blog post is for the organised shopper who likes to make Christmas as stress-free as possible and will probably have it all out of the way before the rest of us even cobble together a list (to those that organised, we salute you!). This very special whiskey was created to commemorate the career of the former master distiller who retired in 2013 after 47 years at the distillery. Barry himself helped to formulate this single pot still and it is highly regarded as one of the best in the range. The pot still elements used are drawn from light, medium, and heavy styles and the spirit is mostly matured in 1st fill bourbon casks with a small amount going into virgin American oak. There is no age statement but some of the whiskey used is very old (around 25 years).
This whiskey is an absolute must for any whiskey collection, having picked up multiple awards time and time again it proves itself worthy of a place on any shelf.
What to expect:
Aroma
Elegant aroma of vanilla and toasted oak complimented by a touch of lime, succulent green berries, pears, and green sweet pepper.
Taste
Light pepper carries onto fresh citrus, limes, and mandarin orange sweetness. A hint of cinnamon with vanilla and oak reveals its years spent in American oak.
Finish
The full spectrum of flavours lasts well into the finish, slowly fading to expose the clean American oak foundation.

This mouth-watering single malt is an exclusive, limited-edition bottling that has been hand-selected by the team here at Celtic Whiskey Shop. It has aged in rum barrels for 25 years before being decanted from cask number 100135. It's a robust cask strength of 50.2% and boasts a sweet, fruity taste with a rich, toffee aroma and a lingering, woody finish.
