The 15 Year Old is Bowmore's heavily sherried whisky and has seen a period of finishing in Oloroso Sherry casks. This has given a lot of influence to the flavour of the whisky, and make this one for lovers of big sherry flavours. It is therefore not for everyone, expect some sticky, chocolate, toffee and caramel flavours along with some roasted nuts, dried fruits and the typical Bowmore smoke. This goes really well with a few squares of good quality dark chocolate.

FAQs
Islay whiskies are peaty because the island's distillers traditionally used locally cut peat to dry malted barley in their kilns, and many continue to do so. Burning peat produces phenolic compounds, primarily guaiacol and cresols, which are absorbed by the malt during the drying process and carried through distillation into the spirit. The specific character of Islay peat, formed from decomposed coastal vegetation, seaweed, and heather, produces the distinctive medicinal iodine, seaweed, and maritime smoke associated with Ardbeg, Laphroaig, and Lagavulin.
