Buffalo Trace at 45% ABV is at the optimal proof range where adding a few drops of water opens the ester profile and softens the ethanol, revealing more of the characteristic brown sugar, vanilla, dried cherry, and baking spice that the Buffalo Trace mash bill and Warehouse C maturation produce. Neat in a Glencairn glass is the most revealing serve. Over a large ice sphere it becomes an elegant, longer evening drink.
