Cap securely, hold with both hands, and shake with sharp, controlled horizontal strokes for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain immediately. Over-shaking dilutes; under-shaking under-chills. For stirred drinks like a Manhattan, a mixing glass and bar spoon will always serve you better.
