The latest release in Kilkerran's acclaimed Heavily Peated series, Batch 13 continues the Campbeltown distillery's reputation for producing wonderfully balanced smoky whiskies. Matured predominantly in bourbon casks (90%) with a small influence from sherry casks (10%), this edition delivers a captivating combination of sweet fruit, creamy richness, and signature peat smoke.
Presented at natural colour and without chill filtration, Batch 13 offers an authentic expression of Kilkerran's distinctive character. The bourbon casks provide a vibrant backbone of vanilla, orchard fruits, and sweetness, while the sherry influence adds subtle depth and complexity beneath the layers of smoke.
On the nose, creamy butterscotch, banana fritters, and delicate elderflower aromas emerge alongside gentle wafts of peat. The palate is rich and characterful, with earthy smoke balanced by honeydew melon, sweet malt, and savoury notes reminiscent of Iberico ham. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering smoke joined by hints of verbena and honeycomb sweetness.
