Palace Bar Fourth Estate Single Malt
The Palace Bar is a famous Victorian era bar on the corner of Dublin's Fleet Street. Up until the 1970s it was common for bars to operate as whiskey bonders, with most establishments bottling their own whiskey from casks held in their cellar. It is perhaps an indication of how ubiquitous and widely consumed whiskey once was, with a bar on pretty much every large street in Dublin bottling their own whiskey! In these days of big brands, marketing and premiumisation it is hard to imagine this practice ever returning. However the Palace Bar have managed to release their second release of their own brand and it is a cracker. This is an unpeated single malt from a Northern Irish distillery and is limited to just 1000 bottles. The vatting contains whiskey of several ages including some 21 year old single malt all of which was sourced via the Teeling Whiskey Company.
