This 'peated' version of Penderyn Welsh single malt is not peated in the traditional sense but has instead been matured in quarter cask obtained from the Laphroaig distillery. The smoke is therefore less pronounced than you may expect but is well balanced with the fresh orchard fruits and vanilla flavours of Penderyn. Irish whiskey drinkers may find some similarities between this and the standard expression of Connemara.
