Plymouth Gin is made at the Black Friars Distillery in Plymouth, Devon, the only distillery licensed to produce Plymouth Gin under its protected geographical indication. It uses a recipe of seven botanicals including juniper, coriander seed, orange peel, lemon peel, green cardamom, orris root, and angelica root macerated in a grain neutral spirit for 24 hours before distillation in a traditional copper pot still. The soft Devon moorland water used in production is cited as a contributor to the round, earthy, and slightly sweet character of the final spirit.
