Celtic Cask (46) Daichead a Sé 1991 Noval Port (Without Box)

70cl

Possibly the finest Celtic Cask release yet. The whiskey was double distilled on the island of Ireland in 1991 and its first maturation was in refill bourbon casks before moving to an old 500 litre port pipe from the legendary Quinta do Noval Port House for another nine years. The sister cask was bottled after two years of port finish and was Celtic Cask Cuig Deag (15). We’ve been following the development of this cask closely and think it’s truly outstanding but might possibly continue to improve. Therefore, we’ve bottled roughly one third ( approx. 120 litres- 176 bottles) and will let the rest to continue to develop. The angels have drunk an incredible 140 litres over the last nine years which might be partly due to the cask being so old or the whiskey being so tasty. However, the alcohol level has held well at 50.5% and that’s the cask strength we’ve bottled at.    How to price a whiskey of this quality and age (31 years) plus rarity is hard. However, as part of Celtic Whiskey’s 20th anniversary celebrations, we will release this as fairly priced as we can, as we’d love customers to enjoy this whiskey rather than it be a collectible bottle.
