Llewellyn's Orchard

This Irish producer provides a wonderful collection of fresh fruit produce that includes apples, premium juices, vinegars and of course wine and ciders. Wine maker David Llewyn has had a long filled interest in wine production ever since working with a winemaker in Germany in the 1980's. For many years David grew vines and made wine purely as a hobby but in 2002 after purchase of a south facing plot in Lusk North Dublin, he planted his first vineyard. Since then the company has whittled down the grape varieties to a few which work well on Irish soil and produce consistently good wine. As a result the vineyard has gone from strength to strength over the past fourteen years. Their wines consist mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Dunkelfelder, and Rondo for reds, and Sauvignon Blanc, Schoenburger and Gewuerztraminer for the whites. At present they have a very tiny total production of around 350 bottles per year, but hope to increase that to around 1000 bottles over the next few years.
