FAQs
Martell is the oldest of the four major Cognac houses, founded in Cognac in 1715 by Jean Martell. Now owned by Pernod Ricard, it produces a range from Martell VS to the prestige L'Or de Jean Martell. The house style is characterised by a high proportion of Borderies Cru grapes, which produce a rounder, nuttier, and more floral eaux de vie compared to the more austere Fins Bois and Champagne Cru styles favoured by Hennessy and Rémy Martin.
