Glen Albyn Cadenhead Bottling 20 Year Old

75 cl

Glen Albyn was a small distillery located to the west of Inverness. It only had two stills and was closed permanently in 1983 when the industry was in decline. Sadly it was demolished in 1986. As a whisky it can be quite patchy with some relatively dissapointing bottlings having been released from the scarce remaining stock. Fortunatley this is one of the highest rated of them all and was rated 86/100 by Malt Madness. This was distilled in November 1963 and bottled in January 1984. The stills were converted from direct firing to steam heating in 1964, so this bottle comes from some of the very last spirit made on the distillery's direct fired stills.
