Fireball Cinnamon Whisky is made from Canadian whisky as the base, which is grain distilled. Fireball Cinnamon Whisky is a Canadian whisky based liqueur flavoured with natural cinnamon and sweetened to approximately 33% ABV. It is produced by the Sazerac Company and is one of the best selling flavoured spirits globally. The product was originally developed as a bar flavouring in the 1980s before being commercialised as a standalone product. It is not a traditional whisky in any meaningful technical sense: the base spirit is a delivery vehicle for the cinnamon and sweet flavour profile.
Fireball is made from Canadian whisky, natural cinnamon flavouring, and sweeteners. The Canadian whisky base provides the alcohol and a light grain character, while the dominant flavour is artificial and natural cinnamon oil. Propylene glycol, a food safe additive, is used in some markets as a carrier for the flavouring. Fireball is most commonly consumed as a chilled shot. In mixed drinks, apple cider is the most natural pairing, where the cinnamon and warm spice character complements the apple fruit in a way that feels cohesive rather than contrived.
