Benromach Sassicaia Finish 2007
A wonderful expression of Benromach that has spent an initial maturation period in first-fill bourbon barrels followed by 24 months in Sassicaia casks. Sassicaia is the most famous of all 'Super Tuscan' red wines and is made from a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). Here the red wine cask has added not just fruit but spice and chocolate flavours to the wine- lovely!

Tasting Notes from the Producer
Aromas (with water)
Noticing the nose opening out… it’s fresh as a breeze with subtle herbs and summer fruits.
Aromas (without water)
… the nose is brimming with luscious red berries and hints of ginger and cinnamon, complemented by a subtle sense of smoke.
Palate (with water)
Peppery with a sweet toffee note followed by a slight saltiness and a subtle smoky edge.
Palate (without water)
The initial peppery palate gives way to a ripe fruit bowl of flavours… strawberries, raspberries, orange zest… and you can detect gorgeous milk chocolate drops, too.
