Grey Goose Vodka

70cl / 40% Vol
Grey Goose Vodka
Each batch of Grey Goose vodka begins with soft winter wheat grown on farms in and around the fertile Picardy region of northern france. Grey Goose maître de chai François Thibault insists on using only the highest-grade wheat—the same wheat used in the finest French breads and pastries. After the wheat grain is fermented and distilled into a high-proof spirit, it travels south to Gensac-la-Pallue, in the Cognac arrondissement (region), where it is blended with the remarkably pristine spring water found there.

FAQs
Grey Goose typically retails from €38 to €50 for a standard 70cl bottle at 40% ABV. The Grey Goose Essences range, flavoured with fruit and botanicals, sits at a similar price point. Grey Goose VX, which contains a small measure of aged Cognac, commands a higher premium. As a wheat based vodka distilled in Cognac, France, and marketed heavily as a premium expression, the price reflects brand positioning as much as production cost.
At 40% ABV, Grey Goose is best served well chilled but not frozen. Serving directly from the freezer suppresses the soft wheat character and subtle floral notes that distinguish it from mass market vodka. A chilled glass at around minus 5 degrees Celsius preserves the aromatic character while delivering the cold, clean experience the style demands. In cocktails, Grey Goose performs well in a Martini or a Vodka Gimlet where the quality of the base spirit is detectable in the finished drink.
Yes. Although Grey Goose is made from soft winter wheat grown in the Picardy region of France, the multi step distillation process removes gluten proteins from the finished spirit to below detectable levels. It is considered gluten free under FSAI guidelines and EU food labelling regulations. As with all grain distilled spirits, individuals with clinically diagnosed coeliac disease should consult their medical advisor before consuming any wheat derived spirit regardless of its gluten free classification.
Grey Goose is distilled from soft winter wheat grown in the Picardy region of northern France, known for its high quality grain production. The wheat is mashed, fermented, and single distilled in column stills in Picardy, then blended with spring water drawn from a well in Gensac la Pallue in the Cognac region. The Cognac connection is primarily geographic rather than a reflection of the distillation process, but the local limestone filtered spring water is cited as a material factor in the finished character.
Grey Goose is bottled at 40% ABV, or 80 proof in the US market, which is the standard bottling strength for the entire core range. Grey Goose VX, which adds a small quantity of aged Cognac to the vodka, is bottled at 40% ABV. There are no cask strength or overproof expressions in the standard Grey Goose range. The 40% ABV is a deliberate stylistic choice that preserves the delicate wheat character that would be overpowered at higher proof.
