Teeling Revival Volume II 13 Year Old

The second limited edition bottling in The Revival Commemorative Series, Volume II, consists of a 13 Year Old Single Malt Irish whiskey distilled in 2002 and matured initially for 12 years in ex-Bourbon casks. It is then given a further 12 months’ maturation in 250 litre ex-Calvados French apple brandy casks imparting an extra apple and pear character unique to Irish whiskey. Further by bottling at 46% ABV with no chill filtration completes an Irish whiskey of true character.

The expansion of the Teeling Whiskey range continues with the release of The Revival Vol II which joins their stable of award winning Irish whiskeys which have won over 75 International accolades over the last three years. The maturation provided by the Calvados cask creates a unique taste profile, reminiscent of floral baked apples and cinnamon rounded off with a toffee sweetness that’s perfectly balanced with a white pepper spiciness. The signature tart green apple and cut grass hues of this limited edition Single Malt can be enjoyed neat, with water or in a cocktail.

Nose Fresh and lively, unmistakably Irish in character. Ripe fruits such as pineapple, white grapes, apricots, pears and melon. A touch of vanilla, honey and, of course, a slight apple aroma.

Palate Powerful and light in body. At full strength there is a slight pepperiness and lots of fruit. Flavours of apricots, peach, pear, vanilla, honey and muscat grapes. Some dryer oak and spice notes towards the finish.

Colour Pale gold.

How to drink Irish Whiskey?

Irish whiskey is most honestly assessed neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, where the full aromatic profile can develop. Adding a few drops of room temperature water to a pot still or single malt expression above 46% ABV opens the ester character and integrates the oak. Over a large ice sphere it becomes a more contemplative drink that evolves as the temperature rises. Avoid adding ice to aged or premium expressions: the cold contracts the spirit and suppresses the complexity you paid for.

Is Irish whiskey gluten free?

Yes. Irish whiskey is distilled from a grain mash, typically malted barley with or without unmalted barley, grain, or corn, and the distillation process removes gluten proteins to below detectable levels. All major Irish whiskey producers including Irish Distillers, Midleton, Teeling, and Bushmills consider their products gluten free under current food safety standards. Individuals with clinically confirmed coeliac disease should consult their medical advisor before consuming any grain distilled spirit.
