Patrón Silver's clean cooked agave, citrus, and white pepper profile performs best in a classic Margarita with fresh lime juice and Cointreau, where the quality of the tequila is detectable in the finished drink. A Tommy's Margarita, using agave syrup instead of triple sec, lets the agave character of the Patrón remain the primary focus. Avoid energy drinks and artificially sweetened mixers with a tequila at this price: they work against the spirit rather than with it.
