The tradition of the Robbie Burns Dinner began five years after his death when a group of his devoted friends hosted a dinner to celebrate his life and work. The tradition rapidly caught on and was held around January 25th his birthday. That date, often referred to as Robert Burns Day, has become Scotland’s unofficial National Day. Garnering much more popularity then the official St. Andrews day!

Now how to celebrate Robbie Burns Night? Traditionally it would be marked with a supper of Haggis, neeps and tatties (the 'neeps' means swede or turnip & 'tatties' refer to potatoes), readings of Roberts Burn’s work and of course a dram or two of scotch.

We have not one but two Burns Night celebrations happing this January if you want to get out of the house and partake in this Scottish night of fun!

Burns Night at the Headline Bar Dublin -

Kilchoman Sanaig

Winner of Master Single Malt: Islay – No Age Statement at the Scotch Whisky Masters 2022! A no-age-statement Kilchoman that has been matured in both ex-Bourbon and Sherry barrels. The latter adding richness and aparent maturity giving this whisky a mouthfeel normally only found in much older whiskies. Kilchoman's neighbours on the island of Islay could learn a few things from this expression. The heavily peated style of the distillery works in perfect harmony with the dried fruit and spice flavours from the sherry casks, something that can be hard to get right.

Glendronach Traditionally Peated

A traditionally peated release made to honour The GlenDronach’s early whisky-making heritage, laid down by their founder James Allardice almost two centuries ago. It was traditional practice in the Highlands to burn peat in the kiln towards the end of the barley malting, creating a rich and warm, earthy smoke. Matured in Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry, and Port casks, this rare peated expression of The GlenDronach presents notes of Highland toffee, treacle, and smoked bramble, with a lingering, rich and earthy finish.

Glenallachie Cask Strength 10 Year Old Batch 8

The eighth batch from the award-winning Speyside distillery. These releases have been firm favourites in the whisky scene, most notably the fourth installment which was awarded World’s Best Single Malt (World Whiskies Awards, 2021). Similar to previous batches, Glenallachie Cask Strength Batch 8 was aged in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry puncheons, Rioja barriques and virgin oak casks. Each cask was personally selected and blended by Master Distiller Billy Walker.

Glengoyne 18 Year Old

This was introduced in 2012 as the replacement to the 17 year old. It has been very well received and is a full bodied but completely unpeated malt. Lots of sherry cask influence coming from a good proportion of maturation in first fill oloroso casks.
